A very special and unique Black tea - A 2024 International Award-Winning Tea

We have played with the standard Black tea making process to develop a unique tea. The result is really something special! We created an Oolong inspired Black tea.

Input from the esteemed Dr. Virginia Lovelace gave us insight into a new process for us to experiment with. It uses the tumbling and withering process of an Oolong but it is processed out like a black tea.

The result is a highly floral, honey, black tea with lots of Theaflavin and less Thearubigen and more small polyphenols than our standard black tea. We are loving the extra floral notes and the smooth taste of this Black tea.

Flavor profile:

This Black Tea has Flavor and Aroma notes of Orchid, Lilac and Rose along with the great Black Magnolia sweetness.

Country of origin:

Brookhaven, Mississippi, USA

Awards:

2024 Gold Winner from the Golden Leaf Tea Awards in Australia

Ingredients:

Camellia Sinensis (Tea)

Tea Making Directions:

1 rounded tsp per 8 oz. of 190F water. Steep for 3-4 minutes. Enjoy!

New to loose leaf tea?

If you are used to commercial bagged teas you will notice some differences with loose leaf tea.

Loose leaf tea generally produces a more flavorful and aromatic cup compared to tea bag tea because the leaves have more room to expand and release their full taste. Loose leaf tea often consists of whole or larger tea leaves, retaining more of their natural essential oils and nuanced flavors. In contrast, tea bag tea is typically made from smaller, broken tea leaves (dust and fannings), which can result in a quicker infusion but often a more one-dimensional or astringent taste. Additionally, loose leaf tea allows for multiple infusions, whereas tea bag tea tends to lose its strength after a single steep.

Loose leaf will usually require a tea infuser. Shop infusers here or try it with a Professional Tea tasting set here.

Other things to note:

  • We do not use Pesticides of Fungicides
