13 Moons Oolong tea wins gold.

We are excited to share that our 13 Moons Oolong tea made in collaboration with guest tea processor Beverly Wainwright of the Scottish Tea Factory, has won gold at the NATC Competition. The competition held by the Tea & Herbal Association of Canada judges teas based on lead dry, leaf wet, appearance, flavor and overall impact.

Tea & Herbal Association of Canada

This tea is very special to us for many great reasons. First, it was made with our friend and what we consider a "tea goddess" Beverly Wainwright. Beverly's experience in the tea industry is outstanding and includes her traveling and working worldwide on bringing tea companies and tea to life. She is an expert in tea processing. She is most certainly at the heart of 13 Moons Oolong tea along with our team here are The Great Mississippi Tea Company. We also have special thanks for Phil Holmans and Angela McDonald who assisted with the project.

This locally grown Oolong tea is processed with US standards making it rare and unique.

Secondly, to win this award for an Oolong tea is impressive. Oolong teas are typically made overseas. We have worked very hard to develop an Oolong tea making process that brings this rare tea closer to home. To have our Oolong win Gold for a process that is unique to the United States, is something very special. When you take a look at all the winners we cannot help but do a little dance as we see the United States in the list amongst many other overseas growers.

We are doing a little dance, seeing our US grown tea win gold at in an international competition.

We know there are many wonderful tea growers worldwide. We are so happy for all the tea growers and processors who won awards in this competition, the tea industry is special. It creates jobs, sustainable growing and one of the healthiest beverages for people. So we celebrate all the winners while doing a little dance for our very own 13 Moons Oolong tea.

I really like my teas with a bit of flavor, not mild. I really loved the Delta Oolong 2nd flush that you all put out a few years ago. Other teas I’ve ordered have been milder than my taste, even Black Teas, but perhaps that’s because I wasn’t steeping them properly or wasn’t using enough tea per water (not potent enough). Can you all address the issue of brewing techniques and potency? Does brewing longer in hotter water increase the potency? Or it that counterproductive somehow? Thank you for your time and attention.
