Our Chai and Pumpkin Spice teas have the perfect seasonal flavor. These two teas are wonderful teas for the fall and holiday season and contain our US grown Black tea. The blend of spices in each tea is comforting and full of aroma. Spiced teas have a way of connecting a taste to a special time. Pumpkin Spice flavors connect you to the beautiful feeling of fall while Chai has a Christmas seasonal feeling. Let's look closer at each tea: A Chai made with US grown black tea Chai was originated in India and is a very common drink there. Many families will have their own blend. Chai itself means "tea" in many languages. Thus, you do not need to refer...
We are excited to share that our 13 Moons Oolong tea made in collaboration with guest tea processor Beverly Wainwright of the Scottish Tea Factory, has won gold at the NATC Competition. The competition held by the Tea & Herbal Association of Canada judges teas based on lead dry, leaf wet, appearance, flavor and overall impact. This tea is very special to us for many great reasons. First, it was made with our friend and what we consider a "tea goddess" Beverly Wainwright. Beverly's experience in the tea industry is outstanding and includes her traveling and working worldwide on bringing tea companies and tea to life. She is an expert in tea processing. She is most certainly at the heart...
This much loved tea is back in stock in very limited volume. This year we only have 37, 1oz bags available.
This green tea is hand picked in the field. Then we pan fire it to stop the oxidation process. In the final step, the leaves are placed into the carding machine where it is heated until the leaves roll perfectly into a thin needle shape.
The flavor has the components of Umami and Vegetal. The taste has a sweet buttery feel. It is an amazing green tea that has little to no bitterness.
This is a Limited Edition tea and it will not last long.
Having healthy tea plants can greatly impact your tea production. In order to maintain a healthy tea plant you must have a proper pruning regiment. Proper pruning starts with new growth and must be consistently maintained throughout the year. How often should you prune your tea plants? Pruning needs will vary depending on your growing conditions. Some tea plants may experience more growth in ideal growing conditions. To maintain the tea plant health here at The Great Mississippi Tea Company we prune at least 3 times a year. What happens if you do not prune your tea plants? You will have far less harvestable tea leaves. Your tea plant will grow scraggy and not bushy. Can you fix a tea...
This is our Tea Shack. This building is where the tea magic happens and the beautiful green leaf we harvest is turned into the tea that you know and love. Most teas in the US are imported. This means they may not be held to US standards for processing and food safety. At The Great Mississippi Tea Company we work hard to ensure all food and safety standards are met. We maintain a clean processing facility that even the tea dogs are not allowed to access. Depending on the tea it can take 1 - 5 days to make a batch of tea. Each type of tea will have a different processing plan that Timmy and Jason have down to a...
